As the lead trumpet player at the Papermill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ, Lee played on Candide, The 1940’s Radio Hour, Annie Get your Gun, Damn Yankees, and Barnum.  Lee played on a GRAMMY NOMINATED ALBUM with Lionel Hampton’s Orchestra in 1984.

Lee’s trumpet playing career came to an abrupt halt when suffered a mini-stroke while playing the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus at the Meadowlands Arena.  Rather than focusing on his loss he turned a negative into a positive situation by combining his passion for music and a 17-year teaching career to create Captain Music, Inc. Lee has written and produced five original music CDs for children on topics from character education, to reading and fighting childhood obesity. Since 2000, Lee traveled around the country presenting his Captain Music Interactive Educational Programs to over 350,000 kids, educators and parents.

His school programs for Grades K-12 help kids learn the difference between mistakes and bad choices and to take responsibilities for the choices they make.  When children take responsibility for their actions the likelihood of bullying, drug and alcohol abuse decrease and test scores rise.  Lee has been the Keynote Presenter at several State School Counselor Association conferences and is nationally known for his interactive motivational programs.  Several Captain Music Books and CDs are being used by school districts around the country to help teach kids.

With a desire to travel less and spend more time in Brevard County, Lee opened the Captain Music Studio on Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island.  Lee focuses on composing original music for CDs, Advertising Jingles, Websites, TV and Film Projects. He has arranged and transcribed music in all styles for professional and scholastic bands for over 30 years.

Captain Music produces music CDs, fully produced radio broadcasts and podcasts, commercial voiceovers, and has working partnerships with Video and Film companies to produce any film, commercial, DVD or television project.  Captain Music’s creative team will help you write music, lyrics, scripts and guide you through the production process from inception to broadcast.
When he is not writing or producing, Lee teaches music lessons on all instruments, music theory, ear training, sight-reading, composition, jazz improvisation and more.

Captain Music, Inc. has written treatments for two educational television programs for kids ages 2-10.  Please feel free to contact him for a meeting to discuss these and other projects.

Lee is a voting member of the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences (THE GRAMMY AWARDS), a member of ASCAP, a member of the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association, a certified K-12 vocal and instrumental music teacher, certified by the Technics Music Academy, and has completed the University of Central Florida’s Excellence In Entrepreneurship Program and The Florida Film and Entertainment Professional Development Series.
